Description
Kuujjuaq, Nunavik’s largest community, lies on the west bank of the Koksoak River, about 50 km upstream from Ungava Bay. The project, awarded by the OMHK — owner of the buildings rented to the Inuit population — required phased work to minimize tenant relocation.
The mandate covered six 4-unit and five 6-unit multi-family buildings, 54 occupied dwellings in total. Mostly built in the 1980s, they were brought up to current building code: windows and roofs replaced, insulation added and heating systems replaced.
